The Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO Endorses Governor Wes Moore for Reelection

ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, the Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO announced their endorsement of Governor Wes Moore as he seeks reelection in 2026.
“If we want to build a stronger Maryland, we have to build a state where working people can afford to live, raise a family, and retire with dignity,” said Governor Wes Moore. “That’s why, alongside Donna Edwards and our partners in the AFL-CIO, we have restored stolen wages to correctional officers, passed binding arbitration, and have raised wages in the state among other victories. Those victories happened because working people organized, demanded better, and had partners in Annapolis ready to act. I am honored to earn the Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO’s endorsement, and together, we will keep fighting for an economy that lifts up our working families and leaves no one behind.”
“We endorsed Governor Moore for re-election as our commitment to building a partnership working on important issues facing workers from AI to development tax credits that create sustainable good jobs for Marylanders, to the right to join or form unions and gold standard workforce development policies,” said Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO President Donna S. Edwards. “The Moore-Miller administration has shown they will show up and listen, and we intend to continue working with the administration to further our shared goals for working families during a second term.”
The Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO represents more than 700 affiliated local unions and over 350,000 union members across industries including education, construction, health care, transportation, manufacturing, hospitality, and public service. Led by President Donna Edwards, the federation advocates for fair wages, affordable health care, secure retirement, safe workplaces, and the right to organize and bargain collectively. Through legislative advocacy, community partnerships, and member mobilization, it works to strengthen workers’ rights and expand economic opportunity for working families throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia.
