Labor Mobilizes Across Maryland in Get Out the Vote Push
This weekend, union members across Maryland hit the streets for crucial labor-to-labor walks, knocking on doors and rallying support for candidates who stand with working families. From Baltimore County to Prince George’s and Salisbury, union activists are leading the charge to ensure that union households are heard at the ballot box.
In Baltimore County, teams of dedicated union members spent the day connecting with fellow workers, emphasizing the importance of voting for candidates who prioritize labor rights and workers’ protections. The momentum continued in Prince George’s County, where labor volunteers canvassed neighborhoods to get out the vote.
Meanwhile, in Salisbury, union members Carlos Diaz and Alexzine Jackson-Slaughter led a labor walk, reaching out to union families in the region. Their efforts are part of a coordinated statewide push that spans Frederick, Charles County, and beyond.
“Labor is knocking on union households’ doors across Maryland today! From Frederick to Salisbury, Baltimore to Charles County, we’re getting out the vote for labor’s candidates,” said Maryland State and DC AFL-CIO President Donna S. Edwards. “Our movement knows that when working people vote, we win, and we’re out here every weekend until Election Day to make sure our voices are heard.”
With just days left before the election, Maryland’s labor movement is more energized than ever. Union members are calling on their brothers, sisters, and fellow workers to stand up for candidates who fight for fair wages, benefits, and workers’ rights.
There’s still time to join the effort! Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the remaining Get Out the Vote labor walks, helping to ensure strong turnout for labor’s candidates.
